SSK Signs Angels Manager, Mike Scioscia |
SSK is very pleased to announce that Mike Scioscia, manager of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim agreed to endorse the SSK fungo bat during Major League Baseball’s Winter Meetings in Nashville, TN last week. Adding Mike, SSK now has nine Major League players and coaches as SSK Advisory Staff members including Omar Vizquel (SS-San Francisco Giants), Bobby Jenks (RHP-Chicago White Sox) and Takashi Saito (RHP- Los Angeles Dodgers)
Mike led the California Angels to their first ever World Series Championship in 2002, a feat that had escaped the Angles since their beginnings back in 1961. He was honored as the American League Manager of the Year that same year. His record as a big league manager during his eight years is 703 wins and 593 losses (a winning percentage of .542) and has become the winningest manager in the club’s history. In the process, Mike Scioscia has established himself as one of the most respected managers in Major League Baseball.
Before Mike took the field manager job with the Angels in 2000, he held coaching positions at various levels including the AAA Albuquerque Dukes (then a LA Dodgers affiliate) where he served as manager. The first SSK fungo he used was a “Royal” in 1995 when he was assigned to be a minor league coach with the Dodgers. Since then, Mike has been using SSK’s PS200 fungos even though his color has changed to “Red”. He said that he really loves the feel and balance of SSK fungo bats and loves the “pop” and “ball control” that the bats deliver.
SSK fungo bats are now available at Baseball Express http://www.baseballexp.com/Baseball-Bats/Fungo/ There are two sizes - the 37”, 22 oz. PS200 and 33”, 20 oz. PS100. Both are made in Japan and come in nine color choices.
