Two SSK Closers -Advisory Staff Players are finalists for Major League Baseball’s 2007 Delivery Man of the Year Award.

SSK is pleased to learn that two members of our Professional Advisory Staff, Bobby Jenks and Takashi Saito, have been selected among 10 finalists for the 2007 Major League Baseball Delivery Man of the year.

Jenks, a 26 year old flame-throwing right-handed closer for the Chicago White Sox earned 40 saves this season, following the 41 saves he had last year. He appeared in his second consecutive All-Star game this year in San Francisco. With a fastball routinely clocked at 100mph, Jenks, who stands 6 feet 3 inches and weights 275 pounds, is an imposing figure on the mound. Bobby was the closer when the White Sox won the World Series in 2005.

Takashi Saito is a 37-year-old, 6” 2”, 202 lbs right-hander throwing closer with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Takashi still can throw a 94-mph fastball along with his devastating slider. A four-time Japanese All-Star and 13-year veteran with the Yokohama BayStars, Saito joined the Dodgers in 2006 as a 36-year-old Major League rookie. Saito was selected for the first time as a Major League All Star in San Francisco this year. Takashi earned 39 saves and had a miniscule 1.40 ERA in 63 appearances in the 2007 season.

The best closer in each league will be voted by fans at MLB.com and announced on Oct 8. Our best wishes go to both of these outstanding SSK closers, along with the hope that each will be honored with this prestigious award.
