SSK Signs Reggie Willits, 2007 American League Rookie of the Year Candidate |
SSK is pleased to announce the signing of the company’s newest Pro Player Advisor, Reggie Willits. A fleet footed, switch-hitting, rookie outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels, Willits is a leading candidate for the 2007 American League Rookie of the Year award.
Born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on May 30, 1981, Reggie played college baseball for the University of Oklahoma, where in 2003 he hit. 379, stole 37 bases and attracted the attention of the Angels who drafted him in the seventh round that spring. Remarkably consistent as a professional, Willits had a combined .302 batting average during three and a half years as a pro, beginning with Provo in 2003, advancing to AAA Salt lake City in 2006. Willits was called up by the Angels at the end of August in 2006, where he has continued his remarkably consistent hitting. Through his first 100 games of the 2007 season, Willits is hitting just over .300, has stolen 25 bases and is an outstanding defensive outfielder.
Reggie Willits is the eighth major league ballplayer to be added to SSK’s staff of Professional Player Advisors, a group that plays an important role in giving the “Professional Edge” to SSK’s lineup of current and future baseball performance products.
